4 Ways to Ground with Reiki

What is Grounding?
The term Grounding refers to the process of connecting to the earth’s energy field, releasing excess energy, and harmonizing your lower chakras.
What does being grounded look like?
- a healthy connection to the physical body and senses
- feeling stable and not easily swayed
- feeling clearheaded
- feeling balanced emotionally, spiritually and physically.
If we are not grounded, this can manifest as:
- experiencing clumsiness
- feeling disconnected from our body
- lack of coordination
- feeling spacey and confused
- struggling with mood swings and instability
- failure to maintain our healthy energetic boundaries.
We can become ungrounded if our upper chakras are very activated, but our lower chakras are depleted and not functioning properly.
Grounding and Healers
Many lightworkers and healers struggle to remain grounded. We work with a lot of high vibration energy which naturally activates and strengthens our upper chakras, but our lower chakras can become neglected and imbalanced if we do not make a conscious effort to strengthen and maintain them.
Ungrounded healers will be absentminded, forgetful, spacey, easily distracted, clumsy, accident prone, and will also be prone to erratic moods and instability. This is not healthy, and will limit our effectiveness as healers, so it’s important to be mindful of staying grounded.
Reiki can be a wonderful tool to help us do this.
Here are 4 methods you can utilize to help yourself ground with Reiki.
Give Reiki to your Hara
This first method is very simple and a great way to keep yourself grounded with Reiki. Simply intend that Reiki begin to flow for you and place your Reiki hands on your lower belly, over the region known as the Hara.
The Hara is an energetic storehouse for the rest of the body. Strengthening and energizing this energy center with Reiki will help us be more grounded, centered, clear and calm and will allow us to “stockpile” a nice supply of Reiki in the Hara.

Giving Self-Reiki to your Hara is a quick and easy way to ground and strengthen your lower chakras.
Practice Joshin Kokyu Ho
Joshin Kokyu Ho is a Japanese Reiki meditation technique that involves breathing Reiki energy in through your crown chakra, through the midline of your body and down to your Hara on the inhale. On the exhale you visualize your entire body glowing with Reiki and Reiki light being exhaled through every pore of your body. The practitioners hands rest gently in their lap while meditating.
This meditation technique is simultaneously grounding and energizing, and works to clear and revitalize all of your major energy centers. It energizes the Hara with lots of Reiki energy and fills the aura with Divine Light. Practicing Joshin Kokyu Ho is a form of Self Reiki and can be done anytime, anywhere.

Practicing Joshin Kokyu Ho is a great way to ground and give yourself Reiki, anytime, anywhere.
Give Reiki to the soles of your feet
Did you know that you have minor chakras on the soles of your feet? These energy centers help you ground out excess energy and connect to the Earth’s biomagnetic field, so they are very important for helping us remain grounded.
Giving Reiki to the soles of your feet will help you remain clear, calm and centered and will have the added effect of a mini self reiki session since the foot is filled with meridians that connect to every part of your body.

Giving Reiki to your sole chakras will help you ground and will energize your entire body.
Remember the Precepts.
When we keep the 5 Reiki Precepts in our heart and mind, they become an incredible tool to help us navigate challenges in life and to stay balanced, centered, grounded and calm.
It requires grounding and presence of mind to remain centered in the present moment, to avoid anger and worry, to do our work with gratitude and to be kind to ourself and all living things. When we are living in accordance to the Precepts, we are living the essence of Reiki.
Simply reciting the 5 precepts to yourself mentally will go a long way to helping you remain grounded and calm, no matter the external situation.

the 5 Reiki Precepts: the heart of Reiki.
There are many methods to ground yourself using Reiki. Experiment with these techniques, and see what other techniques you come up with on your own. There are no limits to the ways you can make Reiki a part of your daily life, and, like anything else, it is a skill that will only continue to grow and develop with practice.
