Witnessing the softening, the opening, the remembering and the coming home to ourselves that are the natural result of our practice was nothing short of magical.

Such big shifts between Saturday morning and Sunday evening!

Reiki is transformative in the best way.

When I first began practicing and teaching Reiki over a decade ago, there were a few key things I didn't understand that would have been so helpful and eliminated so much frustration along the way!

🙏 You have to take your ego out of it. Whenever you feel tempted to give advice, diagnose or figure out what's wrong - you have just stepped out of holding space and and allowing the Reiki energy to flow freely without attachment or expectations. This actually limits the flow of energy and can result in a less positive experience for your client. We facilitate healing best when we simply hold space, let the energy do it's work, and trust people to take from that beautiful experience whatever it is that they need in each moment.

🙏 Your clients will likely not be friends and family. More often than not, we can most effectively serve others when we shift our focus AWAY from trying to convince people close to us that we know what is right for them and instead, begin directing that energy towards clearly communicating what it is we offer and putting ourselves out there on a wider scale so that the people who are searching for and needing what we are offering can easily find us.

🙏 Learning business skills and marketing is necessary but also a lot of fun! There is a HUGE energetic component to attracting your ideal clients. But they need to be able to find you! When we shake off the resistance towards marketing and instead see it as a pathway for others to discover the ways we can help them, our business and capacity to show up and serve others will exponentially grow.

Sometimes we find ourselves in difficult situation

Sometimes we find ourselves in difficult situations with others, where we may be on the receiving end of hurtful words or actions.

While we never have to tolerate or accept harmful behavior, we also do not have to let ourselves become embroiled in it.

In moments of conflict, we can ask ourselves - what is the most loving thing I do right now?

We can remember that kindness to our self is just as important as kindness to others and release people pleasing or doormatting, understanding that this behavior does not truly serve anyone.

We can choose to see the situation with eyes of love, compassion and clarity and give ourselves permission to take a step away when required.

In the act of stepping away, we are gifting ourselves a powerful blessing. When feelings settle, cooler heads can prevail and we can choose our response based on how we genuinely want to show up in the world.

A heartfelt, genuine and non-judgmental conversation has the power to shift most situations back into a vibration of harmony.

We have so much more power and potency than we sometimes know.

Just for today,
Do not anger,
Do not worry.
With gratitude, practice diligently.
Be kind to yourself and others.

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation and healing technique based on the laying on of hands.

On a deeper level, it is a spiritual practice designed to help us release the layers of anger, fear and worry that dim our great bright light so that we can remember our True Nature and let it shine.

Level 2 is known as the "Hidden Teachings" within

Level 2 is known as the "Hidden Teachings" within the system of Reiki.

This refers in part to the symbols which are shared with students in Level 2, which are kept sacred and private.

It goes much deeper than that, though.

The symbols, the meditations, the mantras and hands on healing and the attunement all work together to bring forth what is hidden inside all of us - our Great Bright Light.

We can spend so much of our lives wondering who we are, what we are meant to do, how we are meant to serve, what is our purpose...

When we practice diligently, our practice gifts us a direct experience of the cosmic fire that is our soul.

From this place of remembering, the path reveals itself naturally, step by step.

We learn to wash away the anger, fear, worry and unkindness.

We can begin to see past the illusion of separation.

We practice walking more gently on this earth and with each other.

We remember how glorious it is to play 😊

As we practice, we come home to ourselves, and as we remember, our world and way of being begins to shift.

As Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

Reflections for you and me and all of us when it feels like the world is changing rapidly and fear tries to set in.

It's been storming here, big time. Last night there was a tornado watch. My Dad loves watching the news and while I've intentionally disconnected from that energy for many years now, when I'm here with them, I can't fully avoid it.

I notice how that pipeline of fear affects those who plug into it.

I notice how it can so quickly shift people into the vibration of fear and disconnect them from the beauty, love, and truth of the present moment.

How can we be present with reality in it's entirety - the good and the bad, the hopeful and the hurting, without shutting down from either one?

It's so easy to swing like a pendulum into one extreme or another: everything is light and joy or everything is doomed.

Neither is fully accurate.

Reality as I perceive it is an intricate balance of all of it. The world of the ten thousand things, as it's beautifully referred to in the Tao.

In every moment, the practice is to notice what is, hold it lightly, and choose my center of awareness.

To choose to see clearly while remaining centered in the heart is a challenging thing.

We can do hard things 💜

The key lies in the Precepts.

At first it seems so simple, doesn't it?

Just for Today,
Do not Anger,
Do not worry.
With gratitude, practice diligently.
Be kind to yourself and others.

Simple they may be, but some of the most powerful things in this world are simple, and simple does not always mean easy 😉

How does our perception, and consequently, our state of mind, shift when we slow down and remember the Precepts?

How do we shift when we do our best to embody them?

Focus on the feelings, not the how.

Manifesting is a lot harder if you are focusing on trying to figure out how it all needs to come together.

You are going to slow your progress because you are going to get tripped up by old patterns, limiting beliefs and the things that get in the way of you feeling like you're good enough or ready enough or skilled enough to have what it is that you want.

Try this instead.

Think about what it is that you are trying to manifest.

Now think about how you would feel once you had already achieved that goal.

Free? Abundant? Stable? Secure? Passionate? Creative? Generous? Peaceful? Sensual? Sovereign?

Whatever those feelings are for you, make a mental note.

These will become your new manifestation goals.

By focusing on the desired FEELINGS, you clear the way for those emotional states to manifest in expected and unexpected ways.

You retrain your mind to start thinking about how you want to feel, and to assess your decisions based on how they will likely leave you feeling.

Instead of chasing a promotion because you THINK that's the path to feeling less stressed, you realize that a high stress new position might actually not give you what you want.

Perhaps this insight will guide you to make a different choice, one that is more in alignment with what your heart truly desires.

Focus on the feeling, and let your heart's compass be your guide.

Everyone is an artist.

So many people hold themselves back from creating because they think that they're not artistic, but nothing could be farther from the truth.

Reiki is your True nature. It is life force energy, which is the ultimate creative energy in all of existence.

This is the essence that brings the mighty oak tree from the tiny seed, that ripples galaxies into creation, that can knit together tiny, perfect babies from the big bang of physical love blossoming in union.

This is your birthright, and when you learn to tap into and hone and cultivate your life force energy, creativity spills forth wildly, jubilantly, joyfully.

Art doesn't have to look like a painting or a sculpture.

It can be the way you weave together the written word, or the way you cook with tenderness and love. Parenting and raising healthy, happy humans could be your art. Or perhaps conscious relating 💜

While most people in North America immediately think of hands on healing when they are talking about Reiki, it is actually a system comprised of 5 distinct elements.

1) the Precepts

2) the attunement

3) the meditations

4) the symbols and mantras

5) hands on or off healing

These elements work together like the 5 fingers of a hand to help practitioners spiritually develop, to wash away the layers of anger and fear and worry, and to help guide us towards enlightenment.

Practice that focuses only on hands on or off healing and neglects the other elements cannot convey a full experience of what Usui Reiki has to offer us.

When we embrace all aspects of our practice and weave them together, we experience Reiki as a complete, grounded and comprehensive system of personal spiritual development.
