Feels so good to be back doing what I love!

This weekend I am teaching Okuden Reiki Level Two.

The next Level 1 class I'm teaching in September is fully booked, but you can still register for the October class if you're feeling guided to train with me.

We take our time in my classes dive in deep and practice everything you learn.

Level 1 and Level 2 are taught as separate 2.5 day classes in small group settings. Level 3 and 4 are 1 on 1 with me.

I created this piece in contemplation of connection, the universal yearning for touch, for closeness, to feel the warmth of another.

In these strange times with so many people physically alone or emotionally isolated, the tether of online community is so important for our wellbeing. And yet, it does not fulfill the very real and vital need for human contact.

They say that touch is the fifth basic necessity. Touch is the water, the sun, and the soil of our aliveness. It is our emotional and energetic lifeblood. It is our echo back from the void to remember that we are alive. To remember that we are real.

So, if you are isolated and alone, without someone to hug or hold your hand, my heart goes out to you. I encourage you to at least find connection with the earth. If you are able to, lay your body on the land. That same warm and grounding body is also holding the rest of humanity and all living things. Through the earth we can find connection again. We can feel each other through the energy currents in the land, the ribbons of quartz, the pulsing mycelial network, tree roots, and subterranean waterways.

You are not alone. We are here. You are loved 💗"

The next Level 2 class is coming up this month, and I am so excited to dive into the hidden mysteries of Reiki with the students who have decided to move forward at this time.

"We are in the midst of the greatest collective awakening.

We’ve been forced to look at our shadows + the shadows of our society in a way that we’ve never done before.

When we look at our shadows there is always pain, confusion, + rage. It’s a palpable energy you might feel in the form of anxiety, sleeplessness, or physical pain.

To wake up is not some esoteric “monk-like” experience. Waking up is simply expanding your consciousness, becoming aware, + having a realization of your own ego. An ego that keeps you repeating behaviors that began in childhood when these behaviors were a way of survival.

To leave this unconscious, autopilot, survival based state, we typically need to reach a breaking point. A bottom. This bottom pushes us to go inward. To pay attention. To shed the conditioning of the false self to embody the truth of who we’ve always been.

Awakening causes a ripple effect. As we alchemize our pain, our trauma—into purpose, we’re naturally drawn to help others do the same. We then are the living examples of moving beyond scarcity, beyond power/control dynamics, to abundance + cooperation.

We see others as limitless. Powerful creators. And we support + uplift them, rather than engage in destructive behaviors. Because we fully embody the truth: what we do to another, we do to ourselves.

Everything shifts when we begin truly listening to our feelings, giving ourselves permission to hear their messages and honor their gifts.

Running, repressing and suppressing our difficult emotions means we ignore the invitation to sit with ourselves and engage in the lifelong practice of self love, self care, and self healing.

What we ignore becomes louder and more insistent.

What we listen to deeply and with compassion becomes more grounded, softens and relaxes into love.

One of the greatest gifts Reiki practice has given me is a tangible way to really observe and honor the shifting of my emotions in a way that feels safe, nurturing and true.

What comes out of you when you are under pressure?⁠

Is it compassion? Acceptance? Love? Generosity?⁠

No one is perfect, and we do not have to be. ⁠

This is not to say that it's reasonable to expect that we will always be saint-like in our reactions when under pressure.⁠

This IS an opportunity to notice our internal landscape and make use of this time to cultivate more of what we truly wish to embody and radiate into the world. ⁠

When we practice our self Reiki, the meditations and breathwork or hands on healing, this is a powerful time to lay our hands on our hara and infuse our energy and our being with the precepts.⁠

We are in a receptive, meditative state and the Reiki itself is helping to integrate the essence of these simple yet timeless and powerful teachings deep inside our hearts and minds.⁠
